What is Family Vision?

Once both spouses or partners have completed their Personal Vision, they can move on to creating a Family Vision together.

This is ideally done when you are sitting with one another, and of course, it can all be done inside our FamilyOS. You can use your phone or your computer — whatever makes it easiest to focus without distraction.

A Real-Life Example

Take one couple we worked with as an example. They were planning for retirement. One spouse wanted to prioritize sun and warm weather. The other wanted to prioritize staying close to their grandchildren. Until they sat down to create their Family Vision, they hadn’t realized how differently they viewed the years ahead. Working through the process helped them find a way to honor both dreams.

What Family Vision Is (And Isn’t)

Family Vision is about the shared aspects of your life. This could be raising a family together, retiring together, or simply being lifelong companions.

When you create a Family Vision:

  • You don’t need to change your Personal Vision

  • Your Personal Vision is yours

  • Your partner’s Personal Vision is theirs

The family Vision is where you choose to align—where you name what matters most for your life together, even if other parts of your paths remain distinct. It’s about how you will move forward together.

Shared Values and Shared Priorities

You don’t have to use the same Values you selected individually. Together, you might decide on entirely new ones that reflect your shared Priorities.

The important thing is that you agree on what matters most, and that your Family Vision reflects a shared purpose for your life together.

How It Works Inside the FamilyOS

In our FamilyOS, the main difference between Personal Vision and Family Vision is that instead of individual Roles, you focus on shared family Priorities.

Priorities are the things you both agree are most important to work on together. Prioritizing can be tricky. Many couples feel like they have a hundred things happening at once — and they often do. Without clarity on the top few priorities, it’s easy for confusion or tension to creep in.

That’s why this part of the process is so powerful—it brings focus, clarity, and momentum.

Why Family Vision Matters

A strong Family Vision helps you:

  • Avoid misunderstandings

  • Make joint decisions more easily

  • Focus your energy on what matters most to both of you

It creates alignment without erasing individuality—a shared path you both believe in.

And in the bigger picture, it becomes a foundation for family unity, intentional legacy planning, and meaningful progress.
